CNC Machinist – Milling/Turning Operator (Day & Late Shift)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a leading precision engineering company that supplies the aerospace and defence sectors. The role involves operating CNC milling and turning equipment on day or late shifts to produce high‑quality components to exact specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines to manufacture precision components.
• Produce parts according to engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
• Carry out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Select and change tooling, offsets and fixtures as required.
• Monitor machining operations to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and manufacturing documentation.
• Identify and report machining or quality issues and support corrective actions.
• Complete production documentation accurately and maintain full traceability.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in good working order.
• Work in accordance with the company Quality Management System and Health & Safety procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a CNC Machinist, Setter or Operator in a precision engineering environment.
• Experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, vernier calipers and gauges.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling and inspection techniques.
