CNC Machinist (Nights)

About the role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join a leading aerospace composite manufacturer in Bristol on a 6‑month rolling contract with genuine temp‑to‑perm potential. The role operates on a core night shift, programming and running CNC equipment to produce aircraft components from composite and metallic materials.
Key responsibilities
- Manufacture, machine, measure, test and assemble aircraft components up to 15 m in length.
- Operate CNC rout machines, 5‑axis Zimmerman drilling and fettling gantry machines, and jigged vacuum fixtures.
- Use Renishaw probing equipment and cutter‑tool setting devices.
- Load and set fixtures and tooling in CNC machines according to design drawings.
- Participate in lean manufacturing, waste reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow Health & Safety, COSHH and safe systems of work.
- Undertake training in advanced composite manufacturing techniques.
Required profile
- Apprenticeship (industry related) or minimum Level 3 City & Guilds/NVQ; an aero/engineering degree is considered.
- 3–5 years machining experience, including 5‑axis work; certificates required.
- Experience with CNC machines, preferably Siemens 840D control system.
- Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits and quality systems.
- Self‑motivated with good communication skills; able to work alone or within small teams.
