CNC Machinist – Precision Aerospace Components

About the role

Silcoms is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join its Precision Machining team in Farnworth. You will work on high‑precision aerospace components, using advanced CNC equipment in a fast‑growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC machines to produce aerospace parts to exacting tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and CNC programs.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds and feeds for each job.
• Edit CNC programs and adjust offsets as required.
• Perform self‑inspection using precision measuring equipment and complete quality documentation.
• Diagnose machining issues and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality teams while maintaining a safe, organised workspace.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating and programming CNC machinery in a precision‑engineering setting.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Background machining precision components for aerospace, defence or similarly regulated industries.
• Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and precision measuring tools.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
