CNC Machinist – Precision Engineering – £37‑£42k

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join a small, friendly manufacturing business in St Leonards-on-Sea. You will program, set up and operate CNC lathes and vertical machining centres to produce precision‑engineered components to exact specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC lathes and vertical machining centres using conversational programming.
• Interpret complex engineering drawings and manufacture a wide range of precision components.
• Design and build bespoke fixtures to improve machining efficiency, repeatability and quality.
• Collaborate with engineering colleagues to optimise workflow, tooling and material availability.
• Identify and implement improvements to machining processes, efficiency and production performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in CNC machining within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience with CNC lathes and/or vertical machining centres.
• Familiarity with conversational CNC programming and tooling concepts.
