CNC Machinist – Programmer / Setter / Operator

About the role

Our client, a respected precision engineering company in Southall, is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist who can programme, set‑up and operate both turning lathes and vertical milling machines. The role involves working with FANUC‑controlled equipment to produce high‑quality components to exact specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC turning and milling machines using FANUC controls.
• Work on both manual and CNC machinery within a precision engineering environment.
• Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings accurately.
• Perform drilling, grooving, cutting and turning operations to tight tolerances.
• Conduct first‑off and final inspections to ensure components meet drawing specifications.
• Complete production records and quality documentation.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance and basic machine troubleshooting.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised working area.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC programmer, setter and operator.
• Strong hands‑on experience with FANUC control systems.
• Experience working on both manual and CNC machines, particularly turning lathes and vertical milling machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
