CNC Machinist/Programmer – Path to Production Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join a family‑run business that designs and manufactures high‑precision filtration equipment for blue‑chip clients such as Balfour Beatty and BAE Systems. The position is based in Wareham and offers a clear progression route to a Production Manager role as the company expands its new production facility.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and program a range of CNC equipment including mills, turners, mill/turn centres and sliding head machines.
• Work with Star, Mazak and Hurco machines using Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
• Create and optimise CNC programmes using CAD/CAM software, primarily Fusion 360 and SolidWorks.
• Maintain high‑quality standards and ensure precision of manufactured filter components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to develop into a Production Manager role and lead a future engineering team.
• Ability to commute to Wareham (South West England).

Required skills

• Operating CNC Millers, CNC Turners, mill/turn centres and sliding head machines.
• Proficiency with Star, Mazak and Hurco CNC machines.
• Experience using Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
• CAD/CAM competence with Fusion 360 and SolidWorks.
