CNC Miller / Programmer (5‑Axis)

About the role

Our client, a forward‑thinking manufacturer in Cramlington, is looking for an experienced CNC Miller / Programmer to operate and program 5‑axis CNC machining centres. The role offers autonomy on the shop floor and the chance to influence process efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Program and set 5‑axis CNC milling machines using Siemens controls.
• Develop and optimise machining programmes for maximum efficiency.
• Interpret 3D models, engineering drawings and GD&T to create CNC programmes, primarily using Fusion 360.
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures and cutting data for each job.
• Validate new jobs and drive cycle‑time improvements.
• Diagnose and resolve machining and process issues.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives that raise quality, safety and overall shop‑floor standards.

Required profile

• Strong background in 5‑axis CNC milling, including programming and setting.
• Proficiency with Siemens controls and CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360 preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused attitude with a commitment to seeing projects through.
