CNC Operative – Precision Toolroom Machinist

About the role

BPA is a specialist manufacturer of aerospace tooling and ground support equipment. As a CNC Operative you will work in a busy toolroom, producing low‑volume, high‑precision components for customers such as Leonardo Helicopters and GKN Aerospace.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling and turning centres (3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis) to manufacture parts from engineering drawings.
• Perform in‑process inspection using verniers, micrometers and CMM equipment.
• Maintain accurate job cards, traveller documentation and report tooling wear or machine faults.
• Support 5S housekeeping and foreign‑object‑damage (FOD) prevention.
• Liaise with the Works Manager and Quality team for first‑off approvals and concession requests.
• Assist with programming and process‑improvement activities where capable.

Required profile

• Proven experience setting, programming and operating CNC milling or turning centres (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain or equivalent).
• Ability to work to tight tolerances in an AS9100‑controlled aerospace environment.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
