CNC Setter Operator

About the role

This permanent position is for a 5‑axis CNC Setter Operator within a subcontract precision engineering company. You will work a 38‑hour week with a 12 pm finish on Fridays, enjoy 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and receive a competitive hourly rate with the opportunity for significant overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5‑axis machining centres (Mazak Integrex and/or DMG Mori).
• Produce components to engineering drawings, specifications and tight tolerances.
• Select and install tooling and work‑holding equipment.
• Carry out in‑process quality checks using standard measuring equipment.
• Work with a variety of materials and perform basic machine alignments.
• Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.

Required profile

• Apprentice‑trained or time‑served engineer (City & Guilds or BTEC level preferred).
• Proven experience setting and operating 5‑axis CNC mills in a precision engineering environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team.
• Flexibility with working hours to meet customer deadlines.
