CNC Setter / Operator – Whitstable, Kent

About the role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a busy machine shop in Whitstable. The role involves setting up and running CNC lathes to produce high‑quality components while meeting production targets and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes (minimum 4‑axis) for small to medium batch production.
• Inspect finished parts using a range of measuring equipment and ensure they meet engineering drawings.
• Carry out daily, weekly and monthly machine maintenance checks and monitor tool life.
• Perform de‑burring, cleaning, final inspection and complete traceability documentation.
• Report quality issues promptly and support the wider production team as required.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards, and optimise set‑up and cycle times.

Required profile

• Previous experience operating CNC machine tools, particularly CNC lathes with at least 4 axes.
• Ability to read and edit Fanuc‑based CNC programs.
• Proficient at reading engineering drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a safety‑conscious approach.
• Willingness to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
