CNC & Toolroom Machinist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced CNC & Toolroom Machinist to join our established engineering team in Sittingbourne. You will work in a busy toolroom environment, operating specialist CNC equipment and producing high‑quality components while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and program CNC machinery, including lathes, EDM and 5‑axis machines.
• Manufacture precision components using both manual and specialist equipment.
• Support the Toolroom team with engineering activities and production planning.
• Develop CNC processes, jigs and fixtures to boost productivity.
• Perform routine maintenance and corrective work on machinery.
• Manage work orders, stock control and documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean and efficient workplace.

Required profile

• Proven experience in CNC programming, setting and operation within a workshop.
• Hands‑on experience with CNC lathes, EDM and/or 5‑axis machining.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, jigs and fixtures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing standards.
• Good computer literacy and the capacity to work independently.
