CNC Turner – Programmer/Setter (Precision Engineering)

About the role

An established precision engineering business is looking for an experienced CNC Turner Programmer/Setter to join its machining team. The role offers the chance to work on a variety of specialist projects for scientific, communications, aerospace and medical sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate CNC milling machines (3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis) to meet customer specifications and production schedules.
• Manufacture precision components for a range of industrial applications, ensuring tight tolerances and high‑quality finishes.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and verify accuracy before full production runs.
• Support the introduction of new projects and provide cover for the milling team during absences.
• Troubleshoot machining issues in collaboration with colleagues and maintain a clean, organised work area.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and assist other departments as required.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of experience programming and setting 3‑, 4‑ and 5‑axis CNC machines.
• Strong proficiency with CAD/CAM software, preferably Hypermill.
• Confident reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
• Ability to inspect components to a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality and finish.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and use own initiative.
