CNC Turner – Programmer/Setter/Operator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner who can programme, set up and operate a Doosan Puma 2600 lathe with C and Y axis capability. The role is based in Kingston upon Thames and involves producing high‑quality, low‑volume precision components for a variety of engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Program, set and operate a Doosan Puma 2600 single‑turret CNC lathe.
• Utilise C‑axis and Y‑axis functions to machine complex parts.
• Create, test and edit CNC programmes using machine controls.
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters and machining strategies.
• Perform tooling changes, offsets, work‑holding and first‑off inspections.
• Manufacture precision components from a range of challenging materials.
• Produce small‑batch runs (1‑10 pieces) with a focus on quality and accuracy.
• Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carry out in‑process inspection and quality checks with measuring equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
• Suggest improvements to machining methods and processes.

Required profile

• Substantial experience in CNC turning within a precision engineering environment.
• Proven ability to programme, set and operate CNC lathes from scratch.
• Experience with CNC turning centres that have C‑axis and Y‑axis functionality.
• Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tooling selection and cutting conditions.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
