CNC Vertical Lathe Setter/Operator (Twilight Shift)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Vertical Lathe Setter/Operator to join a well‑established manufacturing business on a four‑day twilight shift. You will be responsible for setting, proving and operating CNC vertical lathes to produce high‑quality aluminium components.

Key responsibilities

• Set, prove and operate CNC vertical lathes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Machine precision components to tight tolerances.
• Carry out first‑off inspections and in‑process quality checks using micrometres, verniers, bore gauges and other measuring equipment.
• Monitor tooling performance and suggest process improvements.
• Record inspection results, downtime and scrap accurately.
• Support continuous improvement activities while maintaining high safety standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a CNC Vertical Lathe Setter/Operator or CNC Lathe Setter.
• Confident ability to read engineering drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Good understanding of machining tolerances.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Proactive approach with pride in producing quality work.
• Experience with PUMA CNC machines is advantageous but not essential.
