Collections Officer – Field Based (Cambridge/Colchester)

About the role

This part‑time, contract position supports a pharmaceutical and healthcare client by conducting on‑site drug and alcohol testing for employees in safety‑critical environments. You will be on call three weekdays and two weekends each month, providing standby coverage and responding to call‑outs across a 50‑mile radius.

Key responsibilities

• Visit client sites such as factories, airports and manufacturing facilities to perform toxicology testing.
• Provide 24‑hour standby coverage (weekday 6 pm‑6 pm, weekend Friday 6 pm‑Monday 6 pm) and attend call‑outs as required.
• Maintain accurate records of tests and ensure compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Travel to locations up to two hours away, using your own vehicle.

Required profile

• Valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Customer‑facing experience with a professional attitude.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours and be on standby as scheduled.

Required skills

What we offer

• Standby rate of £22 per 24‑hour period.
• In‑hours rate of £15 per hour, with call‑out and pre‑booked visit premiums.
• Out‑of‑hours rate up to £37.50 per hour.
• Training week provided before first assignment.
