Collections Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Collections Officer to join a leading global financial services provider in Berkshire. The role involves managing delinquent customer accounts, recovering overdue payments and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You will work closely with Recoveries, Risk and Client Services teams.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively manage late‑paying customers via telephone and written communication.
• Negotiate repayment arrangements and forbearance solutions where appropriate.
• Operate within Consumer Credit Act (CCA) and FCA guidelines and adhere to internal policies.
• Handle sensitive conversations with empathy, balancing customer needs and business objectives.
• Provide clear explanations of terms and consequences of non‑payment.
• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and agreements.
• Prepare reports on collections performance and escalate high‑risk cases.
• Collaborate with Recoveries, Risk and Client Services to resolve complex cases.

Required profile

• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with client‑focused approach.
• Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
• Knowledge of asset finance products and collections processes.
• Familiarity with CCA, FCA and AML/KYC regulatory frameworks.
• Capacity to manage high‑volume workloads under pressure.
• Commitment to integrity and treating customers fairly.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using collections management systems.
• Understanding of AML/KYC requirements.
