College Counsellor

About the role

North Kent College is looking for a compassionate, learner‑focused College Counsellor to join its Mental Health & Counselling Team. Working across four campuses, you will provide one‑to‑one counselling support to students, helping them overcome personal barriers and build resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, confidential counselling interventions to learners.
• Support referral triage and signpost students to appropriate services.
• Contribute to mental‑health awareness campaigns and wellbeing activities.
• Collaborate with internal staff and external partners to ensure coordinated support.
• Maintain professional ethics, safeguarding standards and confidentiality at all times.

Required profile

• Experience counselling young people in an educational or mental‑health setting.
• Strong understanding of professional ethics, confidentiality, safeguarding and BACP frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships.
• Qualified counsellor with current professional accreditation or registration.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy multi‑site college environment.
