College Services Officer

About the role

The College Services Officer will be at the heart of the student experience in Portsmouth, providing essential administrative support, pastoral care and health‑and‑safety oversight. This full‑time, fixed‑term position offers a dynamic environment where no two days are the same and where you can directly contribute to a welcoming, supportive campus community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑line pastoral and welfare support, including safeguarding for under‑18 students.
• Draft, issue and maintain accurate student documentation and records, ensuring compliance with visa sponsorship requirements.
• Monitor attendance, respond to student concerns and guide them toward positive outcomes.
• Manage student queries, maintain virtual learning platforms, and support exam preparation and academic administration.
• Assist with tuition‑fee enquiries, debt recovery and payment‑plan arrangements.
• Support the delivery of major student events, orientation, employability weeks and other campus activities.
• Carry out health‑and‑safety duties such as risk assessments, accident reporting and first‑aid readiness.

Required profile

• Relevant education or experience in student services, administration or a related field.
• Strong organisational skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across admissions, finance, ICT, marketing and academic teams.
• Commitment to safeguarding standards and student wellbeing.

Required skills

• Proficiency in managing virtual learning platforms.
• Experience with student records and compliance documentation.
