Commercial Account Handler – Insurance Brokerage

About the role

Join a well‑established independent insurance brokerage in Essex, supporting a portfolio of SME and mid‑corporate clients. As a Commercial Account Handler you will be the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day insurance needs, delivering professional advice throughout the policy lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop an existing portfolio of commercial clients.
• Handle renewals, mid‑term adjustments and new business enquiries.
• Negotiate competitive terms with insurers across property, liability, motor/fleet and commercial combined classes.
• Provide support for policy queries and claims‑related matters.
• Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the brokerage.

Required profile

• Previous experience in commercial insurance, preferably in broking or account handling.
• Strong understanding of core commercial classes: property, liability, motor/fleet, and commercial combined.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high‑quality client service.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving approach.
• Experience with Acturis or similar insurance systems is highly advantageous.
• CII qualifications welcomed.
