Commercial Finance Accountant

About the role

This position is the first commercial finance role within a growing law‑firm finance team in Tunbridge Wells. The Commercial Finance Accountant will act as a finance business partner, turning financial data into actionable commercial insight and supporting senior stakeholders to improve profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the trusted finance contact for senior stakeholders, providing insight, challenge and recommendations to boost performance.
• Analyse revenue, margin and profitability across departments, clients and projects; produce reports, dashboards and commentary.
• Support the preparation and monitoring of budgets, forecasts and re‑forecasts, highlighting variances and providing forward‑looking analysis.
• Assist with pricing proposals, financial modelling and tender support, analysing client profitability and commercial initiatives.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, billing, debtors and cash collection; identify risks to revenue conversion and improve cash flow.
• Identify and drive process improvements, reporting enhancements and performance‑metric initiatives.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or strong part‑qualified candidates).
• Experience in commercial finance, FP&A, management reporting or business partnering, preferably within professional services.
• Strong analytical ability and financial modelling capability.
• Comfortable influencing non‑finance stakeholders and understanding of revenue, profitability, forecasting and working capital.
