Commercial Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Commercial Financial Controller to lead the finance function of a £45 million turnover division within a £500 million private‑equity‑backed group. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the financial performance of the division, provide insight to senior leadership and drive transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present division financial statements and management reports.
• Deliver private‑equity reporting and support investor requirements.
• Own the budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning processes.
• Manage statutory accounts and coordinate the external audit with a Big Four firm.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance team.
• Provide commercial insight to improve profitability and business performance.
• Drive finance transformation, process improvements and efficiency projects.
• Oversee ERP optimisation and maintain robust financial controls.
• Partner with operational and commercial leaders to influence strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller in a multi‑entity environment.
• Commercially minded with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders.
• Leadership experience and a passion for developing teams.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, financial controls and reporting.
• Proactive, continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Previous exposure to private‑equity‑backed businesses is a plus.
