Commercial Litigation Solicitor (NQ‑2) – Preston

About the role

We are seeking a junior Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join our disputes team in Preston. The position offers exposure to a wide variety of commercial litigation matters for both private and public sector clients, making it an ideal next step for an NQ‑2 solicitor eager to develop commercial dispute expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of commercial disputes while supporting senior lawyers on more complex matters.
• Handle contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, director disputes, breach of warranty claims, professional negligence, commercial supply contract disputes, restrictive covenant and confidentiality breaches, and media or reputational disputes.
• Advise clients from the inception of a contentious matter through to resolution.
• Maintain communications with clients, opposing parties, courts and third parties.
• Assist with new enquiries and contribute to business development activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues across wider teams on joint projects.
• Support the continued growth and development of the disputes team.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
• NQ‑2 years post‑qualification experience in commercial litigation.
• Strong technical and drafting abilities.
• Proven experience handling commercial dispute matters.
• Excellent organisation, time‑management and client‑care skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy team environment.
• Commercial, pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
• Interest in business development and emerging areas such as AI and legal technology (advantageous).
