Commercial Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role
NG Bailey is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function on a major infrastructure project in Banbury. The role involves overseeing commercial performance from tender through to completion while ensuring safety and governance standards are met.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commercial function across multiple projects, ensuring strong performance from tender to completion.
- Embed the safety‑first message across all project activities in line with company Health & Safety standards.
- Own contract terms, identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities to protect and enhance project performance.
- Develop and maintain accurate risk and opportunity schedules, implementing mitigation plans and reporting them clearly.
- Provide leadership to the commercial team, supporting development and driving high performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers and stakeholders, leading negotiations on contract terms, valuations and final accounts.
- Support business planning, budgeting and contract reviews, ensuring accurate cost forecasting.
- Oversee preparation and submission of payment applications to maximise cash flow.
- Ensure robust commercial governance, contract administration, record keeping and compliance with company procedures.
- Manage subcontractor accounts and commercial performance, aligning with contractual obligations and standards.
- Monitor project performance and deliver timely commercial reporting to senior stakeholders.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) environment.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
- Demonstrated ability to manage commercial performance of multiple projects.
- Experience leading and developing commercial teams.
- Background in risk management, subcontract management and financial control.
- Degree/HNC qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
