Commercial Manager

About the role

This position provides commercial and contractual support across project delivery, ensuring NEC contracts are administered effectively and aligned with organisational objectives. You will collaborate with project teams and supply‑chain partners throughout the contract lifecycle, supporting governance, risk advice and negotiation of key terms.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial and contractual support across the NEC4 suite of contracts.
• Support negotiation and implementation of contract terms, including risk allocation and liabilities.
• Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations and KPIs.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Maintain contract records and ensure governance compliance across the asset delivery portfolio.
• Assist in resolution, escalation and dispute management of contractual issues.

Required profile

• Essential experience in commercial contract management within a construction environment.
• Strong experience with the NEC suite of contracts.
• Proven ability in contract negotiation and administration.
• Experience working in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Understanding of contractual and project governance relating to commercial matters.
• Knowledge of legal and contractual principles, including liabilities, indemnities and warranties.
• Effective stakeholder communication and influencing skills.
• Desirable experience operating at a paralegal level in contract review.
• Desirable background in utilities or water sector environments.
• Desirable experience using contract management systems and reporting tools.
