Commercial Manager

About the role

Robert Half is recruiting an experienced Commercial Manager for a leading engineering and logistics organisation delivering high‑profile infrastructure projects across the UK. Based in Bristol with a hybrid schedule (including two days per week at Hinkley Point C), you will own the commercial performance of assigned projects and ensure robust financial and contractual governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function across designated projects, maintaining strong governance and financial control.
• Develop and implement strategies to maximise profitability, cash recovery and overall commercial performance.
• Prepare and manage Applications for Payment, ensuring accurate valuation and timely invoicing.
• Oversee forecasting, cost control, cash‑flow management and financial reporting.
• Administer NEC and other contract forms, guaranteeing contractual compliance.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities, applying mitigation strategies.
• Lead commercial discussions with clients and subcontractors on payments, variations and contractual matters.
• Collaborate with operational teams to align commercial positions with project activity and scope changes.

Required profile

• Proven commercial management experience within major infrastructure, engineering or construction environments.
• Strong understanding of NEC and other standard contract forms.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cash flow, cost control and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑management skills.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
