Commercial Property Underwriter

About the role

Join a leading UK insurance MGA as a Commercial Property Underwriter, responsible for underwriting new and renewal commercial property business. You will work closely with brokers to shape underwriting strategy and grow a profitable portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse commercial property submissions, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage, terms and pricing.
• Negotiate complex deals while balancing commercial considerations with the organisation's risk appetite.
• Maintain and develop a profitable portfolio in line with underwriting guidelines and business objectives.
• Review inspection reports, claims histories and financial information to make informed risk assessments.
• Build and sustain strong broker relationships to support new business growth and renewals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in property or real‑estate underwriting.
• Strong understanding of property risks, underwriting principles and relevant insurance legislation.
• Relevant qualifications such as CII, or a degree in finance, economics or a related field.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with underwriting platforms.
• Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite.
