Commissioning Engineer – Automation & Manufacturing

About the role

Based in South Essex, you will join a well‑known manufacturing company that designs, builds and installs automated machinery for a range of industries. The role supports the company’s rapid expansion by delivering commissioning activities both on‑site in Basildon and as part of the off‑site installation team.

Key responsibilities

• Run, verify and troubleshoot PLC software, drives and networked components.
• Support customer operations during system installation and after‑sales phases.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting and equipment testing.
• Complete all relevant test documentation.
• Liaise with customers’ validation teams during Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and on‑site testing.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a commissioning role within a manufacturing environment.
• Background in industrial automation for process‑driven sectors such as automotive, food & beverage or consumer goods.
• Hands‑on experience with equipment testing and FAT procedures.
• Formal engineering qualification.
