Commissioning Engineer

About the role

This is a nationally focused, field‑based position delivering installation, commissioning and fault‑finding for low‑voltage diesel generator systems and temporary power solutions. You will work across varied projects, interact directly with customers and take technical ownership of critical power infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Commission and install low‑voltage diesel generator sets and associated control equipment.
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on hire‑fleet and customer‑owned equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and control system faults, including generator controllers (DSE, ComAp).
• Configure, test and programme control systems, ATS units and synchronisation equipment.
• Install temporary power distribution networks and perform load‑bank testing.
• Provide on‑site technical support and respond to breakdowns as required.
• Complete commissioning and service documentation using digital systems.
• Support installation teams and collaborate with project delivery groups.
• Ensure all work complies with RAMS and health & safety standards.

Required profile

• Electrical qualification via apprenticeship or equivalent engineering degree.
• Minimum three years’ experience in power generation, commissioning or electrical service roles.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
• Professional, customer‑facing communication style.
