Commissioning Manager - MEP/Building Services

About the role

NG Bailey is seeking a Commissioning Manager with proven MEP/building services experience to lead commissioning activities across the North East, Yorkshire and Scotland region. You will ensure that building services are commissioned to the highest standards, aligning with design intent and health‑and‑safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate health and safety leadership on all project activities.
• Lead commissioning management to achieve design value, risk mitigation and technical excellence.
• Provide commissioning advice to other business areas and support business development.
• Assist the regional commissioning manager in preparing project commissioning fees.
• Prepare monthly project reports for senior stakeholders, highlighting progress, risks and opportunities.
• Advise on commercial progress, variances and corrective actions.
• Ensure commissioning documentation complies with NG Bailey standards.
• Manage commissioning activities, flagging issues, risks and opportunities.
• Assist project managers in defining external commissioning and water‑treatment scopes.
• Coordinate specialist commissioning activities within agreed scope.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Promote the design team and seek new opportunities.
• Communicate proactively with project stakeholders to improve collaboration.
• Support CPD identification, delivery and attendance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in MEP/building services commissioning.
• Willingness to travel to sites across the North East, Yorkshire and Scotland.
• Strong health and safety leadership.
• Ability to produce clear project reports and manage documentation.
• Commercial awareness and risk‑mitigation capability.
