Commissioning & Service Engineer – Field Based (UK Travel)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Commissioning & Service Engineer to join a growing automation engineering business. The role is field‑based, involving travel across the UK to install and commission bespoke automated machinery, with a base at the Kent facility when not on site.

Key responsibilities

• Install and commission bespoke automated machinery at customer sites across the UK.
• Reconnect and configure electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Support machine set‑up, testing, fault‑finding and final optimisation.
• Work closely with customers during installations and breakdown visits.
• Train operators and site staff on machinery operation.
• Manage projects independently while on‑site.
• Provide service and breakdown support when required.
• Complete site reports and documentation professionally.

Required profile

• Experience in commissioning, installation or field service engineering.
• Relevant engineering qualification (Level 3 or above).
• Solid experience with automated machinery or capital equipment.
• Basic exposure to PLCs (full programming not required).
• Ability to follow technical specifications and schematics for mechanical and electrical work.
• Independent, professional and resilient with the ability to manage own workload.

• Salary £35,000‑£45,000 per year (negotiable based on experience)
