Commodity Manager

About the role

The Commodity Manager will join a market‑leading manufacturer’s purchasing team in Gateshead. Working in a small, dynamic group, you will be responsible for the strategic procurement of a range of direct commodities, supporting both on‑site and hybrid working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement commodity strategies focused on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Analyse commodity spend and supply data to drive optimisation.
• Lead project management for new product introductions (NPI) and new supplier sourcing.
• Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance through regular review meetings.
• Deputise for the Procurement Manager as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commodity management or procurement within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Strong negotiation abilities and confidence in managing internal and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of plastic injection moulding, castings, or packaging is advantageous.
• Commercially astute with experience in cost analysis.
• Dynamic problem‑solver, ambitious, resilient, and able to work autonomously.
