Commodity Specialist (Hybrid)
Tekever · Bristol
Job description
About the role
Tekever, a European leader in unmanned technology covering digital, defence, security and space, is looking for Procurement Commodity Specialists in Bristol to work closely with its Engineering teams. The goal is to ensure product designs are supported by a robust, scalable and commercially viable supply chain spanning Electronics, Mechanical, Composites, Powertrain and Navigation Systems. This is not a traditional purchasing role: you join the design process early, becoming the procurement and supply chain subject-matter expert.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle, from early concept to production.
- Understand technical requirements, performance specifications and design intent early on.
- Provide supply chain input into component and technology selection and assess whether proposed components, materials and technologies have a viable, scalable supply base.
- Challenge design decisions where there are significant cost, availability, capacity, lifecycle or supplier risks, and propose alternatives.
- Embed procurement and supply chain considerations into engineering decisions so they are not addressed only after the design is complete.
- Support Design Reviews, Technical Reviews and New Product Introduction activities.
- Establish early supplier engagement where specialist technology or manufacturing capability is needed.
Required profile
- Ideal candidate enjoys working at the intersection of Engineering, Procurement and Manufacturing.
- Experience in strategic procurement, commodity management, sourcing or supply chain within a technical manufacturing environment.
- Experience working directly with Engineering or technical teams.
- Strong understanding of supplier manufacturing capabilities and supply chain risks.
- Experience across one or more of electronics, mechanical, materials, powertrain or vision systems.
- Experience engaging suppliers during product development.
What we offer
- Competitive salary with a discretionary annual bonus and a company pension contribution match of up to 10%.
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, private medical insurance (with optional family cover) and private dental care.
- Employee Assistance Programme and clear career development opportunities.
- Flexible hybrid working, typically three days a week at core UK sites such as Bristol.
- Bespoke rewards platform with high street discounts and salary sacrifice schemes (Electric Car, Cycle to Work, Technology).
