Communications & Content Officer

About the role

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is seeking a talented storyteller to join its Marketing and Communications team. The Communications & Content Officer will shape the hospice’s narrative across the East Midlands, creating emotionally resonant content that raises awareness and inspires support for families facing serious illness.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, interview and develop stories from families, supporters, staff and stakeholders.
• Produce publish‑ready content for press releases, website, email newsletters, social media and fundraising campaigns.
• Maintain a pipeline of quotes, images and video assets for multi‑channel use.
• Collaborate with the PR Manager and Income Generation & Marketing Directorate to support regional media activity and digital communications.
• Help design and implement digital‑first storytelling approaches.

Required profile

• Strong writing and editing ability with a compassionate, audience‑focused style.
• Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive, independent thinker who can spot story opportunities.
• Experience in communications, public relations, journalism or related fields.

Required skills

• Storytelling and interview techniques.
• Content creation for web, email, social media and print.
• Understanding of PR and digital marketing principles.
