Communications & Engagement Manager

About the role

The Communications & Engagement Manager is a newly created position within Forestry England’s Central District. You will lead the internal and external communications workplan, helping audiences understand the organisation’s purpose and building a supportive community around our forests.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver internal and external communications strategies for the district.
• Produce compelling content that explains the benefits of forests for climate, nature, people and the economy.
• Engage with stakeholders, supporters and the workforce to keep them informed and motivated.
• Support events and occasional weekend work to promote Forestry England activities.
• Travel across the district and work one day per week from the Sherwood Office (NG21 9JL).

Required profile

• Relevant experience in communications, public relations or stakeholder engagement.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to craft clear, persuasive messages.
• Willingness to work hybrid, travel within the district and occasionally on weekends.

• Fixed‑term contract until July 2028 with a salary of £33,854 per annum.
