Communications Manager – Public Services (Hybrid, Birmingham)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Communications Manager to join a public‑services provider operating as a private company. Working hybrid (three days on‑site in central Birmingham), you will shape and execute the communications strategy, raising the organisation’s profile with external stakeholders, media partners and internal audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop compelling stories for national, regional and social media channels.
• Create and repurpose content for web, social, internal platforms and press releases.
• Collaborate with the wider team to design and launch integrated campaigns.
• Establish processes that make the communications function more proactive and efficient.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external partners and media contacts.
• Support events, projects and promotional activities.
• Manage media monitoring, reporting and analysis.

Required profile

• Proven media‑relations experience, preferably within a purpose‑led organisation.
• Excellent writing ability to craft stories for diverse audiences.
• Experience creating content for press, employees, partners and other stakeholder groups.
• Strong interpersonal skills to quickly establish rapport and act as a trusted advisor while challenging constructively.
