Community CAMHS Charge Nurse

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Band 6 Charge Nurse to join its Community CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) team. Based at Ayrshire Central Hospital within the North Ayrshire locality, you will help deliver safe, caring, and respectful mental health care for children and young people aged 5‑18.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mental health and risk assessments for children and young people with a range of conditions.
• Deliver evidence‑based treatment in collaboration with multidisciplinary CAMHS teams.
• Supervise and support Band 5 nurses, overseeing their learning, development and attendance.
• Work closely with CAMHS Urgent Assessment, Intensive Treatment and Neuro teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Liaise with inpatient services such as Skye House and Woodland View for timely admissions and discharges.

Required profile

• First‑level clinical professional qualification appropriate for a Band 6 Community CAMHS Charge Nurse.
• Valid UK driving licence (essential).
• Genuine interest in working within CAMHS and supporting young people and families.
• Commitment to NHS values of caring, safety and respect.
