Community Payback Supervisor

About the role

The Community Payback Supervisor leads groups of offenders who are completing unpaid work placements as part of their community sentence. Based at the NPS Unit in Workington, you will spend up to 7 hours a day supervising activities that benefit the local community while supporting people on probation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily work groups at community payback sites, ensuring tasks are completed safely and to a high standard.
• Transport service users or equipment using service vehicles; a full manual UK driving licence is mandatory.
• Coordinate with Probation Service staff to monitor progress and address any issues that arise during placements.
• Work flexible patterns, including frequent weekends and occasional evenings, with a 50% weekend premium.
• Promote health and safety, wellbeing, and good practice among participants.

Required profile

• Full UK manual driving licence (automatic licences are not accepted).
• Willingness to work weekends and occasional evenings.
• Ability to engage positively with people from diverse backgrounds and support their rehabilitation journey.
• Physical fitness for an active, varied role.
