Community Producer

About the role

The Guardian is looking for a Community Producer to nurture and guide discussion across theguardian.com and related platforms. You will help produce and publish the new "Conversations" editorial strand, acting as a bridge between readers and journalists.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and publish Conversations articles under the direction of the Head of Community Engagement.
• Host and moderate on‑ and off‑platform discussions, keeping conversations active and respectful.
• Monitor reader comments across theguardian.com, ensuring compliance with community standards and terms.
• Identify emerging news stories or trends that may interest editorial teams.
• Attend weekly and daily editorial meetings, contributing ideas and planning content.
• Liaise with editorial staff on user‑interaction issues and share best community practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing online communities and understanding of social‑media dynamics.
• Strong interest in news topics and awareness of diverse perspectives.
• Familiarity with the breadth of coverage on theguardian.com and other Guardian channels.
• Ability to follow international current affairs and engage varied audiences.
• Understanding of the intersection between community and editorial work.
• Knowledge of UK libel, defamation law and journalistic ethics.
