Community Respiratory Nurse (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Community Respiratory Service is seeking a specialist respiratory nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. Working from Woodside Health and Care Centre, you will provide expert care to patients with moderate to severe COPD in their own homes, supporting prevention, early discharge and chronic disease management.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient needs, develop and evaluate evidence‑based care programmes.
• Provide clinical leadership and act as a specialist resource for COPD management.
• Prioritise and manage patient caseload autonomously, linking with Early Supported Discharge, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and consultant teams.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff, including participation in TURAS.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC guidelines.
• Integrate research and audit findings into practice as a change agent.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with a current NMC registration.
• Degree level nursing qualification.
• Demonstrated experience caring for COPD or other respiratory patients.
• Ability to work independently and make clinical judgements.
• Membership of Disclosure Scotland’s PVG scheme.
