Community Safety Advisor

About the role

As a Community Safety Advisor you will work directly with residents across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, delivering fire‑prevention advice and helping vulnerable households stay safe. The role combines independent home visits, risk assessments and collaboration with partner agencies to reduce fire risk in the community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Home Fire Safety Visits in private homes, sheltered accommodation and supported living settings.
• Identify fire hazards, install safety equipment such as smoke alarms and provide practical advice to mitigate risks.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action in line with policy.
• Work with internal teams, local authorities and partner agencies to coordinate prevention programmes.
• Support youth inclusion and early‑intervention initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of visits, risk assessments and actions taken.
• Manage your own workload, adapt to changing priorities and make real‑time decisions during visits.

Required profile

• Confident working independently and making decisions on the spot.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with a wide range of people in their homes.
• Ability to assess risk, prioritize actions and handle complex or vulnerable situations with professionalism.
• Commitment to public safety and community wellbeing.
