Community Support Worker

About the role

Join East Kent Mencap as a Community Support Worker in Margate, providing day‑to‑day assistance to adults with learning disabilities. This full‑time, 37‑hour position focuses on promoting independence and enabling service users to live fulfilling lives within the community.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation and household tasks.
• Assist with managing finances, attending medical and social appointments, and organising transport.
• Facilitate participation in social, recreational and community events.
• Build positive, respectful relationships and encourage choice and autonomy.
• Ensure the safety, dignity and well‑being of each individual you support.

Required profile

• Working towards or holding a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
• Full UK driving licence held for at least two years and age 21 or over (occupational requirement).
• Compassionate attitude, willingness to learn and a commitment to the values of Mencap.
• Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities is desirable but not mandatory.
