Company Accountant / Bookkeeper – Luxury Interior Design

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑focused Company Accountant/Bookkeeper to lead the finance function of a high‑end interior design studio. The role will move beyond basic bookkeeping to provide strategic financial insight for luxury residential projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, analyse and present monthly management accounts to the Managing Director, monitoring project profitability and cash‑flow.
• Oversee the sales ledger and credit control, managing client invoices, retainer deposits and design fees.
• Maintain the purchase ledger, reconciling supplier and contractor accounts and allocating costs to client budgets.
• Handle international supplier payments, multi‑currency transactions and foreign‑exchange risk mitigation.
• Ensure statutory compliance, including quarterly VAT returns (with margin scheme considerations) and CIS submissions.
• Liaise with external accountants, delivering audit‑ready year‑end trial balances and schedules.

Required profile

• Professional qualification – CIMA, ACCA, ACA or senior AAT/QBE.
• Experience in an SME finance role, preferably within interior design or a related high‑value sector.
• Proven track record managing international payments and multi‑currency accounting.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis.
