About the role
The school in Leeds is seeking a dedicated Complex Communication and Autism Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 student with non‑verbal autism. The position starts on 26 September and is full‑time, with the possibility of part‑time or a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one support to the student during lessons and classroom activities.
- Facilitate communication using specialised strategies and tools.
- Assist the student in developing social and academic skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt lesson plans.
- Monitor progress and report observations to the teaching team.
Required profile
- Experience working with children who are autistic, particularly non‑verbal learners.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and maintain a supportive environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to the student’s individual needs.
