Complex Needs Education Assistant – Specialist Primary School

About the role

Veritas Education is seeking dedicated Complex Needs Education Assistants to work within a specialist primary school in Bradford. You will support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties, helping them access learning, communication and meaningful experiences throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with complex physical and learning needs.
• Assist with individualised learning plans, sensory programmes and therapeutic activities.
• Deliver safe personal care, including PEG feeding, toileting, repositioning and mobility support.
• Operate hoists, slings and specialist equipment following moving‑and‑handling guidance.
• Collaborate with teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and medical staff.
• Support communication using AAC methods, switches, eye‑gaze or other assistive technologies.
• Promote social interaction, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
• Record progress, observations and behaviour to inform personalised learning.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or adults with complex needs, physical disabilities or medical requirements.
• Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is welcomed.
• GCSE English & Maths.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply) and eligibility to work in the UK.

Required skills

• Team Teach Level 2 (training can be provided).
• Safeguarding training (training can be provided).
• Moving & handling training (preferred).
