Complex Needs Teaching Assistant (Thatcham)

About the role

We are looking for a caring, patient and passionate individual to join a specialist school in Thatcham as a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant. The role involves providing consistent, personalised support to pupils with complex additional needs throughout the school day. You will work closely with teachers, SEN staff and external therapists to help pupils develop learning, communication and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils throughout the school day.
• Support pupils with complex special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorder and communication difficulties.
• Assist pupils with learning tasks, social development and the acquisition of independence skills.
• Help implement individualised learning plans and support strategies designed by the SEN team.
• Promote positive communication and engagement between pupils and staff.
• Support pupils both inside the classroom and during break‑times, outings and other school activities.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, therapists and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach.
