Compliance Specialist - Customs and Trade

About the role

We are seeking a Customs & Trade Compliance Specialist to join a leading international organisation operating across the UK and Ireland. You will be the focal point for customs compliance, ensuring that all import and export activities meet UK, EU and global trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage import and export customs compliance, including product classifications, valuations, origin determinations and duty calculations.
• Maintain customs controls, governance frameworks and compliance management systems.
• Lead internal audits and support external regulatory reviews.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, logistics providers and regulatory authorities.
• Monitor regulatory changes and drive process improvements and automation.
• Produce compliance reports, risk assessments and management information.
• Maintain customs accreditations and authorisations.
• Provide expert customs guidance to operational, finance and commercial teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customs, international trade or regulatory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of UK and EU customs regulations and procedures.
• Familiarity with customs or ERP systems.
• Understanding of compliance controls, governance and audit processes.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and committed to continuous improvement.
