Construction Buyer

About the role

The Construction Buyer will be responsible for procuring roofing and cladding materials, plant, equipment and related services for a specialist contractor delivering bespoke façade solutions across the UK and internationally. Working closely with Project Managers, the Design Team and suppliers, the role ensures cost‑effective purchasing and timely delivery to keep projects on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Procure roofing, cladding, plant and equipment to meet project specifications.
• Schedule and coordinate timely deliveries to construction sites.
• Negotiate competitive prices with suppliers to achieve best value.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and a reliable supply chain.
• Monitor material costs, report price changes and update internal records.
• Track purchase orders, resolve delivery delays and manage returns of damaged items.
• Process purchase orders and keep accurate purchase ledger records.
• Read construction drawings and perform material take‑offs where required.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities while meeting quality and programme requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience in procurement or a related buying role within the construction sector.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects and long‑lead‑time items.

What we offer

• Salary: £27,000‑£30,000 dependent on experience
• 38 days holiday including bank holidays
• Full‑time hours: 8 am – 5 pm, Monday‑Friday
