Construction Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join the procurement team of a well‑established main contractor. You will work closely with Commercial and Project Delivery teams to source construction materials, plant and equipment across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Procure construction materials, plant and equipment for several live projects.
• Source competitive quotations and negotiate the best commercial terms.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
• Liaise with site teams to align procurement schedules with project programmes.
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply‑chain issues promptly.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
• Stay up‑to‑date with market trends, material pricing and product availability.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Buyer with a main contractor.
• Strong understanding of construction materials and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management abilities.
• Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective communication and a collaborative approach.
