Construction & Civil Engineer – Transition to Lecturer

About the role

We are seeking a Construction or Civil Engineer to join our technical education team in Workington. This full‑time position allows you to move from on‑site engineering work into a rewarding teaching career, with full support to gain recognised lecturer qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical and classroom‑based training in construction and civil engineering topics.
• Plan lessons, develop schemes of work and prepare learning materials.
• Assess learner progress, provide feedback and support student development.
• Monitor achievement outcomes and contribute to curriculum improvement.
• Work with experienced staff to obtain teaching qualifications with full funding.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Current or recent experience as a Construction or Civil Engineer.
• Motivation to transition into a teaching and training career.
• Ability to commute to Workington.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of construction and civil engineering principles.
• Ability to convey technical information clearly to learners.
