Construction Engineering Manager (CEM) – Rail Projects

About the role

Randstad Construction & Property is seeking an experienced Construction Engineering Manager (CEM) to lead multi‑discipline rail projects. The role starts remotely and will transition to an on‑site presence in North London. This is a temporary contract position paid inside IR35.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of project engineering delivery, ensuring quality, budget, and programme targets are met.
• Act as the Contractor’s Engineering Manager for multi‑discipline rail projects.
• Coordinate engineering output to be fit for purpose, constructible, and integrated across all disciplines.
• Manage the engineering programme and implement appropriate standards changes.
• Identify and drive process improvements within the engineering function.
• Assess training, recruitment, and development needs of the engineering team.
• Ensure work is carried out safely, professionally, and in line with client management systems.
• Prepare technical, cost, and programme information to support bids and projects.
• Liaise with HSQE teams to address safety, quality, and environmental considerations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Construction Engineering Manager on rail projects.
• Ability to manage multi‑discipline engineering teams and programmes.
• Strong understanding of engineering standards, process improvement, and risk management.
• Eligibility to live and work in the United Kingdom.
